Signs You Need a Radiator Repair at Your Chrysler Dealer

A good, working radiator is essential for keeping your Chrysler's engine cool. The radiator and the rest of the cooling system operate under high pressure and at high temperatures for long periods. This can lead to wear or damage over time, and you'll need to visit your Chrysler dealer for radiator repair. These are some signs that your radiator is in trouble.

Broken Radiator Fan

The radiator functions as a heat exchanger. Inside it, hot air from the engine is exchanged for cooler outside air. This process occurs in the radiator tubes, where cool air blows in through the radiator grille. The flow of air over the tubes cools the liquid inside them. This process is very effective but only works when your car is moving.

If your engine gets too hot while you're idling, a fan at the back of the radiator will switch on. This fan blows across the back of the tubes and cools the hot coolant. If this fan is damaged, it won't switch on, and your engine will overheat. You'll notice a failed radiator fan if your engine temperature only starts to spike when you idle. We'll test the fan and repair or replace it depending on the damage,

Failed Radiator Cap

The radiator cap controls the pressure in the cooling system. This cap is securely attached to the top of your radiator and protected by two seals. These seals ensure an airtight fit and prevent coolant leaks. If the pressure inside the cooling system gets too high, the cap will open to bleed off the excess pressure and then close again.

The cap is unlikely to fail, but its seals gradually shrink or crack due to the heat. Any damage to a seal will result in a coolant loss due to the pressure in the system. The coolant will evaporate almost instantly in the engine's heat, but it leaves tell-tale white lines behind on the metal. We'll examine the cap and seals, and we can replace the seals to prevent further leaks.

Broken Water Pump

The flow of coolant is essential for your cooling system to operate effectively. This fluid must also move at high speed to maintain engine temperature ta a safe level. The movement of the coolant through your engine is dependent on the water pump. This pump activates as soon as coolant is released by the thermostat.

A pump failure is a major problem for the cooling system, as the coolant can't move without it. A failed pump will cause a steady rise in temperature as your engine starts to overheat. When we replace the pump, the coolant will flow normally again.

If your engine temperature is too high and rising, call us ASAP at Bob Caldwell CDJR.

A Closer Look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee

A luxurious three-row SUV with off-road capabilities, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers exceptional engine performance and plenty of sophisticated cabin comforts. It also employs some of the most advanced technology available today throughout many of its entertainment and driver-assist features, making every drive a memorable experience. Engines and Versatility This edition of the Grand Cherokee comes with a powerful 293-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 as its base engine option, though those who are looking for even more strength can opt for a 357-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 that delivers faster takeoffs with its 390 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that shifts both smoothly and quietly. While this model comes standard with rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive is available, and this is where its impressive capabilities become most obvious while traversing through rough terrains. Although it's not needed for off-road driving, the Selec-Terrain system enhances the vehicle's versatility even more by adjusting traction as needed through a convenient switch found in the center console area. more Interior and Technology The 2023 Grand Cherokee is known for its three-row design, which accommodates seven passengers and offers plenty of different seating configurations. You can fold both the second- and third-row seats down, which leaves 84.6 cubic feet of space for cargo, and you have your choice between bucket seats or a bench for the second row, depending on your needs. Also offered for the cabin are plenty of tech features, with six available USB ports and a wireless charging pad for smartphones. The vehicle's Uconnect 5 infotainment system provides all the entertainment and navigation assistance one could ask for, though there's also a Front Passenger Screen and two other screens available for passengers seated in the second row. Smart Safety Monitoring Many intuitive driver-assist and safety features come with this edition as well, including Blind Spot Monitoring, which works with Rear Cross Path Detection to alert you if other vehicles are driving in your blind spots or crossing lanes directly behind you. Night Vision helps you visualize both pedestrians and animals at night by showing you their locations on screen in the instrument cluster. Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking is also impressive, as it can first warn you if vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists are detected just ahead of you, and if it detects that a collision is imminent, it can then apply brake pressure to quickly stop the vehicle. Combining remarkable performance and versatility in a stylish three-row design, the 2023 Grand Cherokee is ready for whatever adventurous journeys you have in mind, on or off-road.
