2022 Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger is a legend in the muscle car market, and has been providing drivers with a thrill for many years. The modern Challenger is reminiscent of the original but has new features and technology that appeal to today's car buyers. For the 2022 model year, there's a new Jailbreak package for the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, but other than this addition, the 2022 Challenger carries over without any changes.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Challenger SXT starts the lineup with 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, and a sport-tuned suspension. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, fog lights, a functional hood scoop, and performance brakes. Stepping up to the R/T adds to the GT with an active performance exhaust, while the R/T Scat Pack comes with Brembo brakes, a high-performance suspension, and upgraded engine cooling. Choose the SRT Hellcat for wider performance tires, SRT styling elements, and larger Brembo brakes. The SRT Hellcat Redeye adds special Redeye badging, and the SRT Super Stock has 18-inch wheels, drag racing tires, and wide body styling.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Challenger starts with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 303 horsepower, but this is just the beginning. The R/T gets a 5.7-liter V-8 that generates 372 horsepower, and the R/T Scat Pack has a 6.4-liter V-8 that puts out 485 horsepower. Under the hood of the Hellcat, you'll find a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with 717 horsepower, and this engine generates 797 horsepower with the Redeye and 807 horsepower with the Super Stock.
Performance
You can't beat the pure power of the Challenger. Any of the engines have the horsepower to provide a thrill behind the wheel. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is available for some models, and you can choose from the standard eight-speed automatic transmission or get a fun six-speed manual. The higher-end Challenger models come with extra performance features such as launch control, limited-slip differentials, and active exhaust systems.
Interior
There's room for four people in the Challenger. It comes standard with cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat, but you can get leather upholstery, a performance steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and heated seats and a heated steering wheel depending on the trim and package. A 7-inch touch screen display comes standard, and all Challenger models have the Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and two USB ports. A six-speaker stereo comes in the SXT, with a premium stereo system available in the higher trims along with an 8.4-inch touch screen, satellite radio, and an upgraded version of the Uconnect infotainment system. Integrated navigation is an available option, and you can also get an 18-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system.
Safety Features
Every Challenger comes with a rearview camera, and all models offer the Driver Convenience Group. This package comes with a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and a new upgraded alarm. The optional Technology Group adds rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning with automatic braking.
